You may know Steve Baxter as one of the ‘Sharks’ on the Australian series of Shark Tank. Steve is a renowned tech entrepreneur and investor. With vast experience in the industry, he has been actively involved in promoting innovation and technological advancements. Steve joins Topher as they discuss government regulation and red tape, the Federal Governments new 60-day dispensing of Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme (PBS) medicines which comes into effect from 1 September 2023 – you can read more about it here – questions the need for limits altogether.

We also speak with Joel Jammal. If you don’t know Joel is a prominent media analyst and commentator, known for his critical insights into the media landscape and government policies. In this discussion Topher and Joel talk about Joel’s concerns about proposed new Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) powers that could transform the government department into a de facto Ministry of Truth as they look to “combat online misinformation and disinformation” – read about it here and have your say.
This is an area that Topher is familiar with because back in 2012 Former Prime Minister of Australia, Julia Gillard received recommendations from Ray Finkelstein QC for a ‘News Media Council’ be established. This News Media Council would “set journalistic standards and consider internet media regulation” (because regulating the internet sounds like a great idea). Some of the specific recommendations included regulating blogs with 15,000 hits per year (43 per day) which would mean that yes, The Aussie Wire website and the Topher Field website would be regulated if this News Media Council had been established 9 years ago. But even back in 2012 Topher wasn’t happy with the idea of the government meddling in areas related to Free Speech and created his video “The Forbidden History of Unpopular People” which has been viewed by over 140,000 times.
Additionally, Topher and Joel explore the upcoming tour of Donald Trump Junior which is going to be a fantastic event. if you don’t already have your ticket you can get one here.

Alex Story returns after his first appearance on The Aussie Wire in this episode in May. You will recall that Alex is the former UK olympic rower turned political commentator. Alex has returned to discuss political revelations and lockdown hypocrisy as he divulges recent revelations exposing the ruling political party in the UK for not adhering to their own lockdown measures. Topher and Alex discuss the impact of such actions on public trust and accountability as the UK looks to move forward.
